It was Sunday morning and the events of the night before were blurry in my mind. I didn't ever try to remember. Not just yet.
I had a quick shower and brush my teeth twice or three times. My head was sore, but not pounding. It was about midday. I needed to sober up for a while.
I decided to take a walk to clear my head. I pulled on jeans and Paramore t-shirt and headed out into the warm, sunny day. I squinted as the sun was hurting my eyes. I decided to sit by the fountain and listen to music.
I sat down on the grass, leaning against a tree. I put my head back and closed my eyes.
I sat there for a while. I became aware of someone standing over me when they stood in the way of my sun.
I looked up and a guy was standing there looking at me.
"What?" I snapped at him.

“You’re in my spot.” I told her. I’d never seen her before, and judging by her attitude, I was kinda glad I didn’t. That was my spot where she was sitting, and I wanted it back. “Scoot Paramore,” I ordered, and sat half on top of her, forcing her to get out of my way.
“My spot,” I grinned. “Has my name on it.” I pointed to the name carved into the bark of the tree, just above my head. “Devlin Tempest. Who the hell are you?” I held my hand out for her to shake.

Who the fuck did he think he was telling me to move. Well he could 'Drive on Charles' as my old business teacher would put it. He wasn't moving me.
But he did.
Bastard.
"Franklin" I said not taking his hand. "Franklin Blake."
I sat back down beside him. I wasn't giving up that easy.
"Were you at the party last night?" I asked, remembering his face through the blur of others.

Franklin. Wasn’t that a guys name? I decided, better not to ask. “Who wasn’t?” I grinned crookedly, leaning back against my tree and shutting closed my eyes. “Don’t remember you though. “ I stated, turning to look at her wild blond hair and laid back attire. She looked like the type who didn’t take no for an answer; I kinda liked that. Wasn’t sure if I liked her, but I completely approved of her ‘get-stuffed’ attitude.
“Paramore huh?” I nodded at her shirt. “Why?” I asked bluntly. “All their songs sound the same. But I suppose to each his own.” I shrugged.

"I like 'em" I said, a bit pissed off. "Hayley Williams is a ride."
I put my iPod in my pocket. I had guessed he wasn't going to fuck off just yet.
"So who are you into?" I asked him, not looking at him.

A ride, eh? Hm. “No one you’d know.” I said, sensing a little hostility in her tone. Just then, my watched beeped and I checked the time. Shit, I was late. I sighed, “Look, not that this isn’t a blast, I gotta be somewhere. See you around?” I hoped not. With a two finger salute I stood and left her there beside my spot. She was probably gonna move into my spot now. She just seemed like hat kind of girl.

I stucck my finger up at him when he turned around. The saluting thing was mine. And he kicked me from my spot. Grr...
I sat in his spot again, it spite of him. This time when I leaned back I dosed off for a while.

What are the odds you come back to your spot an find some Rookie fan -- the same Rookie fan you nearly sat on earlier -- in your spot, again?? It wasn't probable. Usually, people moved after seven hours have drifted by. Sane people did anyway. Which led me to believe this 'young lady' was not completely all there. She was skydiving from the Sane Plane, if ya catch my drift.
I kicked her foot until she stirred and was looking at me. "You're in my spot."

I was dreaming about a white mocha with cream when someone kicked my foot. It took me a minute to realise where I was before I looked up at the guy. Yeah, that guy. The one who's spot I was in.
"And your in my sun" I said, only moving to put my knees up so he couldn't sit on me. "What's your name again? Temperence. That's a girls name."
I could't for the life of me remember it. It was something like that anyway.

"Tempest. Please, call me Devlin." I said boredly. What kind of game was she paying here? My spot. My name on my spot. Therefore, my spot is mine. Simple as. I was starting to wonder if maybe she was retarded as well as annoyingly sarcastic. "Up." I ordered.
When sh didn't move, I began to feel the temperature rise and not because of the sun. "Are you usually this annoying or is this a special day for you??" I demanded, grabbing her ankles and childishly dragging her away. She fought, but being the awesome vampire I was, it took little effort on my part to keep her restrained. We were a fair distance away, when I let her go and took my place under the tree. My goddamn spot.

"It's a skill I've acquired over many years. What about you?" I said, just before he pulled me by the ankles.
I got up and raised my fist, ready to punch him. "You fucking prick" I hissed at him. But I decided against, thinking of a more amusing. I put my hand down.
"You know what, keep it" I grinned. And with an unnoticeable swish of my wrist a branch from his precious tree fell onto his head.
"Now that's what I call karma, Temperance" I snickered. "Where'd you run off to earlier anyway?" I say down across from him.

"OW!" I rubbed my head. Admittedly, yelling ow was only a reflex. She hit like a six year old. "None of your bloody business Blondie." I stood over her threateningly. She was now standing as well, obviously rising to the challenge I was blatantly laying down between us. God, she was short. Shorter than I expected. With hair that long, you'd think she'd at least be tall enough to keep it off the ground.
To be honest, I wasn't in the confrontational mood. She wasn't worth it. I sat back down and sighed. "You know what? I think we got off on the wrong foot. I don't like you a hell of a lot, but can we start again?" I asked.

I rose to the challenge, gladly. Who didn't love a fight? He was tall. Well taller than me. Not that that put me off. I smiled as he sat back down, admitting defeat in my eyes. I sat also, as he was speaking.
I thought about his proposal. I shrugged. "I guess. But I'm still calling you Temperance"
It wasn't really to piss him off, I didn't even know why I wanted to call him Temperance, heck, I don't even know what it means. Oh well.
"Franklin Blake" I held out my hand. "Pleasure to meet you"

I took her hand, signing a truce. "Devlin. Devlin Tempest." Did she have to call me Temperance? Why not just simple Tempie if she insisted on a nickname that didn't involve the usual juvenile prick or asshole? Jeez, Temperance was such a mouthful. Three syllables.
I began to break the branch she'd hit me with, one small piece at a time. My knuckles whitened each time I upped the force I was using.
"So," I began, making eye contact. "You from New York?" I quizzed socially, hoping to start some sort of civil conversation.

I shook my head. "Nope, conceived in Franklin, Tennessee, born in London, England and I moved here to NY a few years back. That's my story"
I always liked the fact that I was conceived in Franklin. Not the fact that my mother fucked some guy she met there, that would just be weird. But the fact that Hayley Williams is from there.
"So what about you, Temperance? What's your story?" I asked him. I wasn't even sure why I was still talking to this guy. Maybe cause I was too lazy to move...
