I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather... Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. "What the hell are you talking about?" I said jokingly, "I'm not going anywhere. And nothing you can say or do is ever going to hurt me. Seriously, try surprising me with quick insults. Like yo usaid, I'm a prick right?" I grinned at her. She was surprisingly pretty in the moonlight. I could smell her blood, pulsing through her veins, but it did not smell appetising to me. That was a first. "I think I want to get to know you better. As a friend." I said honestly, "You seem different to all those other girls. And I like you. As a friend." I kept on walking and she followed. "Can I be your friend?" I asked charmingly.

"You're just too different to me," I told him, seriously. I could tell he was trying to be charming, but I just didn't like the bad boy type. "Until you're a good man, we just can't be friends," I shrugged simply. "sorry," I said in a very un-sorry tone.

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather... Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. "Hmm," I thought for a moment about it. "And what, in your opinion, is a good man?" I wanted to be close to this girl, not in the lovey-dovey way of in a friendship, just... I suppose I wanted her to trust me. I wanted to prove to her that I wasn't a total prick. Not really.

And he's chivillrous and kind and charming and selfless," I continued, thinking. "And he's modest," I stressed that one, having noticed how full of himself he was. "This is my stop," I said as we were about to pass Theta. "I guess I'll see you at tomorrows lecture," I smiled briefly at him as I turned and went into the house.

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather... Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. Hmmm, I thought to myself as I continued walking. Doesn't lie? As long as she doesn't give me a reason to lie I wont. Chivillrous? I could be chivillrous. For a vampire, I was pretty tame, even I had to admit that. Kind? That was no problem. Charming? I was finding that one difficult lately. She didn't really seem to notice my charming side... I was definatly going to have to work on that. And finally, modest? That was definatly somthing I wasn't. But I supposed I could be if I tried hard enough. I found myself anticipating Giles' lecture the next day. She was there, like she'd said she would be. I waited impatiently for the painfully dull class to end before I jumped up and raced through the crowd of students to meet her by the door. "Hey," I said, unsmiling and a little out of breath. "I'll do it. I'll let you try to change me into a 'good man'."

"You-- You will?" I asked in total surprise. "Great!" I exclaimed, delighted, taking his wrist and pulling him out of the building. "So," I started, "Have you lied to me?" I asked. "Because, a good man is honest. So... Have you lied to me yet?"

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather... Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. "Not that I know of," I said honestly, a little afraid of her reaction to my decision. Her skin was very warm on mine, like someone had put a hot water bottle over my wrist. "Uh, where are we going?" I asked her, feeling a little worried.

"And you're going to try and be a good man," I led him to a pub and sat him down at the bar. "Now," I smiled sweetly at him, "Tell me about yourself," I requested lightly, waiting for his reaction.

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather... Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. "What would you like to know?" I sat down beside her. What was I doing? I felt so misplaced... I had no idea what to tell her. 'Hi, im Devlin, I'm 20 and I'm a vampire.' Thats pretty much all I could think of straight away; and I couldn't see how that conversation could possibly end well. I smiled just thinking about it.

TALL BLOND LETS OUT A CRY OF DESPAIR "i would have cut it myself if i knew men could climb hair""i'll have to find another tower somewhere""AND KEEP AWAY FROM THE WINDOW" I thought of things I could ask him. "Well, there's a lot I don't know about you, right?" I took a sip of my beer when the bartender arrived with our orders. "What is..." I trailed off, thinking. "Your favourite colour?" I asked, uessing the answer would be black, judging from his clothes. "Your favourite..." I thought of more questions, "film? Music genre? Food?" I asked, wondering if he was going to answer in a pricky way.

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather... Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. "Blue; Identity; rock; steak." I answered in order. She gave me what I was later on to call 'The Look'. "Alright, fine." I muttered, backtracking. "My favorite colour is blue; I fell in love with the movie Identity in 2003. I'm a huge fan of rock music and I adore my steak cooked medium rare. Better?" I grinned

TALL BLOND LETS OUT A CRY OF DESPAIR "i would have cut it myself if i knew men could climb hair""i'll have to find another tower somewhere""AND KEEP AWAY FROM THE WINDOW" I tried and failed not to smile at him. Ok, so I'll admit, he had a nice smile. "See, this is where the modesty thing becomes an issue," I tried not to make eye contact with him. What was wron with me? I'd fought off dozens, maybe hundreds of vampires and I couldn't handle one human guys smile? "You're too full of yourself--" "Kestrel? Kestrel Savage?" I knew that voice. It came from behind me. I grimaced to Tempest as I turned to see my high school principal. "Mr. C!" I smiled in false happiness. "It's been ages!" He was drunk. God this was embarassing. Mr. C was already rambling to Tempest about how he fought in the war. He wasn't alive for that war. "And that was nothing-- nothing -- compared to this one," he pointed drunkenly at me. "Burned down the whole school gym she did when she was fifteen!" "It was full of vampires," I muttered lowly to myself, far too low for them to hear, as I turned back to the bar and took my drink.

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather... Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. "You don't say?" I looked to Kestrel and smiled widely, I was so enjoying this. A few minutes later, the drunken 'Mr. C' stumbled away happily, convinced he'd just seen a dead wife of his strolling down the street.I chuckled and turned back to Kestrel, who seemed very unhappy at that point in time. I linked my hands and placed my chin on them, grinning widely as I looked at her. "So... why don't you tell me something about you? Miss I-burned-down-my-schools-gym-when-I-was-fifteen?"

Okay, so his smile was definitely charming. "Well, what would you like to know?" I asked, repeating his question from earlier. He hardly seemed like the type who would care that much about other peoples situations and interests. He was completely self obsorbed.

"Hows about you start with why you burned down your school gym?" I asked, leaning against the bar casually. I hated to admit it, but for a slayer, Kestrel was pretty good company. I wondered what she was thinking right now. Me, hopefully. I smiled to myself.
