I miss your ginger hairand the way you like to dress I ignored the people staring and pointing and giggling as I left my last class of the day. I thought I was going to be able to keep my cool and ignore them but my patients was wearing thin. But I couldn't loose my cool that's what they wanted. So I just kept walking towards the cafeteria for lunch. It was a great day outside so the cafeteria wasn't that full. I lined up behind two other girls being served by a friend of theirs who obviously had detention. The were giggling and glanced at me a few times. I pretended not to notice and waited. When the girls finally moved away I look the plate from the one that was serving and opened my mouth to say thank you but before I could even form the words, she spoke. "Careful," She giggled, "It's beer batter." With that, her and her friends burst into fits of laughter. I just ignored them, looking around for a seat. Elize wasn't in here. I guessed she was outside with her other friends or something. I spotted a familiar head of hair. Jamie. I took a deep breath, I was going to have to face her eventually, why not now? How bad could it turn out? I took a deep breath and exhaled slowing before walking towards the table she was sitting at, alone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------- --What a truly lovely start to the year. Having been criticized and warned for my apparent, 'naivety' and 'vulnerability'. my new roommate had called me a bitch and told me I needed to sort out my priorities. It was so thoughtful of her! Only a true friend would be that truly honest. I hummed lightly to myself as I flipped through my physics textbook. I know, I had changed my major. My Grandma said that fairies had no business learning physics, why, it was all folklore and myths. Maybe that's why I found it so interesting. I chuckled to myself; ah, humans didn't have a clue. They thought some thing called gravity was keeping them tied to the planet. How absurd is that! Some invisible force that they cant actually feel is just buzzing around making sure people don't float off? How ridiculous! It was the magic cast billions of years ago, agreed on in the very first article of the Shadow Proclamation of course. Gravity... How novel. I glanced up as I realised someone was sitting across from me. Had she not seen me? Had she mistaken me for someone else? Surely she must have-- no one ever sat with me. "I think you have the wrong table," I told her apologetically, expecting her to realise I wasn't who she thought I was and leave. She didn't. I had to look at her for a long moment before I realised why she looked familiar. Frankie?? "Oh-- I thought you were dead," I cocked my head to the side in confusion. "At least, that's what somebody told me in my class... Well, I'm glad you're not," I rushed, on seeing her expression, "It's not that I wanted you dead-- I was very sad when I heard -- but you're not dead, you see -- um--" I could feel heat blushing to my cheeks. "I'll stop talking now. Hello Frankie."

I miss your ginger hairand the way you like to dress I allowed myself to smile a little. I couldn't help it, it was something only Jamie could do. She just had that aura about her, so happy, so bubbly, so carefree. "Well, I'm not dead. I'm surprised you haven't heard my whole life story from the rest of the school. They seem to know it better than I do." My laugh was a little shakey. I was feeling a little nervous. I was admittedly surprised how well Jamie was taking this, after everything that happened between us. "Listen, Jamie..." I trailed off, not knowing what to say. I wasn't even sure where I stood with her. "Are we..." I bit the inside of my cheek, " Are we ok? Me and you? I mean are we still friends? Because if you don't think of us like that anymore I'd understand. I did some horrible things before and... What I'm really trying to say is... Well, I'm sorry" I looked down at my lunch, not able to meet her eyes anymore.

-------------------------------------------------------------------- --"Sorry?" I frowned at the word. How peculiar, an apology was the last thing I was expecting. Well, that's not strictly true. The last thing I was expecting was for a meteorite to fall to earth and land on our lunch room table, crack in half and emerge from it a small purple monkey who would proceed to dance the macarena. Unfortunately, the latter didn't happen. That would have been exciting though. Maybe, one day... "Don't be sorry," I shook my head and smiled. "I didn't even realise you didn't think we were friends anymore. Of course, I did think you were dead, but my goldfish Sushi died when I was very small and I still consider us to be friends. Speaking of which," I stood suddenly and picked a glass of water off a passing students tray. The boy stared at me in confusion as I placed his glass of water on my table and then brought my eye to be level with it. "No..." I sighed wistfully, and picked up the glass and handed it back to him. He stared at me for a long time. Was he expecting an explanation? Humans always expected an explanation. I leaned in closely to him. "I'm checking all the water in this area. There's an escaped fish, you see." I leaned back and he blinked twice before walking on. I sat again, this time beside Frankie, and slid my tray from its place across the table to where I was now sitting. "I've never had these before. They're called spaghettio's. I've had spaghetti, but never with an 'O' in it," I glanced at her, expecting her to share my bewilderment at the oddly shaped food.
