Meat sack? Say's fatass in front of me. As Oryana introduced us I noticed Mark, Flynn and Scotty come closer. I didn't like the look in their eyes. It screamed trouble. I don't like trouble. "You all work in the theatre? I feel left out." I chuckled, trying to seem indifferent to Rafe's look. His whole expression told me to run, but I was cornered. Two behind me, two in front of me. "Umm, you know, I gotta go... so... see ya." I turned and tried to walk past them, but Scotty stepped in and grabbed me. "Aw, come on. Seriously, don't you usually do this after the new kid has settled in?" I complained. Rafe took a step forward and swung at me but I ducked and he hit Scott instead, knocking him out. Damn. Lucky I ducked. "Take that as a no?" I growled. I jumped back to avoid his second punch, and jumped forward again, breaking his nose as I punched him. He fell to the floor holding his nose as I stepped back and looked at the other two. "I'm waiting." I growled at them.

I shoved Aaron forcefully away from Rafe and went to help him up. Rafe would have never thrown that punch if he;d been sober; he knew better than to draw attention to himself. And I knew Rafe was a dick and he'd started it, but I didn't care. He was my brother, so I was on his side here. I got down to help Rafe up. His face was turning shiny and scaly and black, only for a second, before it returned to it's human form. See he wasn't a person that sometimes turned into a dragon. He was a dragon that sometimes looked like a human. "That's enough," I growled, as Mark looked about ready to tear Aarons head off. "We are not to fight, you understand?" I told the boys. They nodded in unison, and I looked to Aaron. "Stay away from us," I warned him, shoving Rafe in the opposite direction and following as the boys walked away. They were my pack. Outsiders were not an option. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -• S O M E D A Y Y O U W I L L D I E •THERE'S NO ONE BESIDE YOU

Holy crap. That guy had scales. Very shiny black scales. Dragon scales. And Oryana didn't seem surprised at all! Was she a dragon too? Holy shit, I just punched a dragon. That was gona come back to bite me. Or breathe fire on me, whichever. I was on my way to my dorm, party having finished and all, and I remembered the scales. Bloody vodka was clouding my thoughts... Well, this is a very interesting turn of events. In one night, I survived a fight with a dragon, I probably just signed my death certificate, and now I'm friggin thinking of looking for the dragon. Well, I might as well try to apologise. Might convince them not to eat me. Maybe I could join them? I am a shapeshifter... Maybe they could use me... Woah, I've first got to survive the next time I see the guy....

IF HEAVEN AND HELL •• C O U L D • B O T H • D E C I D E •• T H A T T H E Y A R E S A T I S F I E D - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -*Next day* "Nah, he ain't in our Un-World," The Gunner grunted, pulling his shiny bronze rain cape closer around him. It was a curious thing, moving statues. I knew they were made of bronze and metal and yet their skin felt leathery and dry; their clothes draped like satin along their bodies. Normal people couldn't see the statues move. Not unless they were either Glints, or they had managed to fall into an Un-World. And of course, when I was with them, interacting with them, talking to them, people couldn't see me either. It was almost like, when I was with the statues, I wasn't in the real world anymore. "He can't see you," the Gunner nodded to the man who had just come into the theatre as we sat up on the stage. It was true; I recognised the man, I think his name was Duncan... He was a shapeshifter too, but not a part of our pack. We didn't exactly admit new members. Duncan's eyes passed over me, went right through me. "He's a rational minded bloke. And his rational mind won't let him register your existence, not while you is with me," The Gunner coughed and played with the whip in his hands. "Ain't nothing wrong with his mind -- apart for driving a German bloody car, maybe." Gunner was my best friend. He was a Spit -- a statue that represented human form. Normal people would pass by his plint and see him there; the unmoving, clump of metal in his shape at least. But the real Gunner was here with me. His gravelly, English voice was somehow a comfort; whenever I needed to get away from the pack, it was the Gunner I went to find. I watched as someone entered the theatre... Aaron? I thought I'd told him to stay away? No matter, he wouldn't be able to see us, but still... I watched him, curious. Why was he here? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -• S O M E D A Y Y O U W I L L D I E •THERE'S NO ONE BESIDE YOU

I had hoped to see Oryana here... I had given up hope of being friends, but I still wanted to apologize... I sighed, she wasn't here. there was another guy there... looked like he was leaving. Yep, walked right past me. Course, the fact that I turned into a spider before he noticed me helped. Once he had left, I reverted back to myself, feeling an annoying urge to knit something. Bloody spiders with their webs... I reverted to a dog, just so the personality changed to a more bearable urge to eat some dog biscuits. Oh well... I did that anyway.

My mouth was hanging open and I was starting to hyperventilate. Had he just...? No, I must have imagned it. But... But I could see it, and the Gunner had seen it... I looked up to him unsurely. "You saw that... Right...?" "Well ain't that a load of cockspit," he grunted, winding up his whip again. "Innit? He's like your lot he is." No. He couldn't be a shapeshifter. I simply wouldn't allow it. "Leave," I growled at the Gunner. He raised his brassy eyebrows, insulted, before hopping off the stage and marching out of the theatre. I knew the second he was gone, I was visible again. "How did you do that?" I called down, and Aaron jumped at the sound of my voice. "You just... You were a dog... And before that... You were... You were a bug," I swallowed hard, advancing on him. "How did you do that?!"

Oh fu... crap. Not good. "Umm... I should go, you know... you told me to stay away from you and all." I turned around and half-walked half-ran away. But she had to block my path. "You were the one who told me to stay away, and now your blocking my path? What do you want me to do?" I turned and jogged to the emergency exit. only to run into scaleface again. "Ah crap" now all exits where blocked. I was trapped. I don't like trapped. It reminds me of him. But I was trapped, and Oryana had seen me shapeshift. In short, I was officially in deep shit.

"What seems to be the problem, sis?" Rafe narrowed his eyes as he came in the stage exit and noticed Aaron. "Oh. You again," He raised his eyebrows at me. "This guy giving you trouble, Ana?" I clenched and unclenched my fists nervously. He couldn't be... "Rafe go help Scotty with the lights out back." Rafe's eyes went to me, screaming treason, and he turned and walked back out the stage door leaving Aaron and me alone. "You..." I bit my lip, circling him. "You're... What are you?" I asked weakly. Play it dumb, yeah, that was the thing to do. "Humans don't just.. They don't turn into things-- animals, I mean... Ah... Is that insulting? Saying things instead of animals? No, nevermind," I shook my head, feeling slightly dazed. I stopped in front of him again. "What are you?"

"What are you?" I heard Oryana ask. What am I? Well... "First off, stop circling me, it's creepy. Second, I saw Rafe grow scales, and so did you. You weren't scared, or surprised, or anything. So I think you know what I am. Third, and just for the record, yes, that was insulting.

"Scales? What are you talking about?" I frowned, meeting his eyes. Hey, I was an actress, I knew how to play dumb. "You turned into an animal, I saw you! You were a dog! I was standing right over there, I saw it!" I raised my voice a little. "Normal people don't just do that, it's not possible! You're not human!"

"No, I'm not. I'm not human. I'm an animal. Actually, I'm all animals. I. Can. Shapeshift." At the end of each of the last three words I shapeshifted into a different animal. First a polar bear, then a Lion, Then finally a Velociraptor. Then I switched back to myself. "So... What now?" I smiled at her

I took a shaking step backwards, trembling because of the fact that he had... He had turned into a dinosaur. That... Wasn't... Natural... "You... You're a monster..." I whispered. The boys -- I'd seen them shift, but they weren't like the other shapeshifters out there. They were good. And they had not ever, ever shifted into anything as frightening as a raptor. He looked confused, and I held up my hand, so he wouldn't come any closer. The boys... They would never hurt me. But him... I didn't know him... What if he was dangerous? He was surely dangerous. "Stay away from me -- don't hurt me," I warned him, taking several steps backwards. "Don't come any closer." Should I call for help? No, bad idea. It might turn into a fight, and that might bring the whole theatre down. "Just leave, okay? I don't need your trouble, just go."

"Me? A monster? Okay, the calling me things, instead of animals, I can let that slide. But calling me a monster?! That's just rude." I frowned. Did she really think, that I was gonna hurt her? "Do you really think that I'm gonna hurt you?" Yes? Ah, for frick sake. "Why would I hurt you?" I asked? "I'm not a fricking cannibal. I don't eat humans, therefore, I see no reason to hurt them. Unless in self defense, so punching me would not be smart. Remember the party?" I smiled. Then I saw how she was looking at me, and my smile dropped from my face. "You really, actually think, that I'm gonna hurt you?" Wow. That hurt. I'm not him, I don't hurt people, unless they try to hurt me... I looked into her eyes, and saw the same fear that was in my eyes, two years ago. When he hurt me... I turned around and walked straight outside, checked to see if Oryana was following, and ran to my dorm. The memory of that night kept playing, over and over, the night when... No... Stop thinking about it. But his voice kept sounding in my head... The same words, over and over. It was your fault mom and dad died... Your fault... Your... SHUT UP! I screamed, burying my head in my hands. Was this what insanity felt like?

"What was that about?" Mark asked casually, as him and Flynn sauntered in from backstage. I swallowed hard, and brushed my hair back behind my ears. "Yeah, um... Nothing. Is everything in?" "Yep" Flynn dusted off his hands on his jeans, "Except there's some kind of worry about the costumes. I'll talk to Rafe about it anyway; you can head on home," He smiled at me, so I nodded. "I'll see you later then," I picked up my bag. This was bad; this was very very bad. Another shapeshifter, a possibly dangerous shapeshifter... I did not like this one bit. I slung the bag over my back and started the cool walk home. It was getting dark. Already? Jeesh, the days must be getting shorter...

I hate drunks. There I was, perched on a branch, and these stupid drunks start to throw stones at me. Not cool. I flapped my wings and flew toward them, pecking at their heads and all in all, acting like one helluva crazy bird. They started shouting and running away, and I flew after them, dive-bombing them a few times. Now, crows can't laugh, but if I could, I would be in hysterics by now. I flew back to the oak tree, perching my spot. I once thought of building a nest up here, but never actually did it. Something to do when I'm bored. Well one good thing came out of those asses. I'd stopped thinking about that night. Crap, now I'm thinking about it again... Sigh... I shifted back to myself, then saw Oryana walking this way. Crap. I turned into a mouse and scuttled away, but I think she saw me. Well, if she did then I'm leaving. I'll pack my bags, then I'm leaving. So I set off for a great adventure to my dorms.
