29. Kestrel insisted that her guests could wear whatever they wanted to her wedding. All of her guests appreciated that there was no dress code, but they still wore the traditional suits and formal dresses, except for Oz, who wore jeans.

30. When Devlin left for Egypt, Kes just... Stopped celebrating her birthday. She didn't feel like she could celebrate anything anymore, but for the kids sake, she of course celebrated some things. But she drew the line at her own birthday. In fact, the kids don't even know what date it's on.
31. Kes is terrified of spiders and scorpians.

32. Ever since she was nine years old, Kestrel always spends her Autumns outside, looking for maple leaves. She keeps a scrapbook of them, and labels each leaf with the name of someone she loves. She planted a maple tree and named it after Nate and Charlie, in the future they never had.
33. Henry wrote several letters to Jack after he began college, each beginning with the words, "CONSTANT VIGILANCE". Jack wondered if he had never really gotten over being arrested.
34. In high school, Oz had the feeling that Mike liked Kestrel. So one day he secretly put up a huge banner in the Dining Hall that read, "Mike loves Kestrel". Oz denied everything, and when a hopeful Kes asked a terrified Mike if it was true, he shot her down.
35. Lucas fell in love with Kestrel because she wore her heart on her sleeve and allowed it to be damaged and broken so easily. He wanted to protect her from that. He felt she was the only one who would ever see good in him. He knew that she saw good in everything, and he wanted to be a good man for her. And he was.

36. When Nate was just a tiny baby, on nights that John would get particularly abusive, Kestrel would sneak into Nates bedroom and talk to him as he slept. She usually told him the same thing:
"What you are going to be, Nate, is very, very brave. But not as brave as John’ll have to be, because there’s someone coming. I don’t know where he is, or what he’s doing, but trust me. He’s on his way. There’s a man who is never gonna let us down, and not even an army can get in the way. He’s one of a kind. He looks young, but he’s lived for hundreds of years. And whatever John does, Nate, however scared you are, I promise you - you will never be alone. Because this man is your father. He has a name, but you don't need to know that just yet. Just know, there's a hero coming for us, Nate. He'll save us. "

37. Kestrel and Sol met when they were ten. Kestrel was hanging out with a group of boys (Sol included) and Sol lost a race where Kestrel came second last. The boys, who all knew Sol better than Kestrel, argued that Sol was helping his sister, who fell, so he had an excuse for coming last. Ergo, Kestrel was last. As forfeit, the boys wanted her to take off her clothes (because being boys, they were curious). Kestrel started crying and said she didn't want to, so one of the boys slapped her. When she started to unbutton her shirt, Sol stepped in, saying that he had lost the race, not her. Sol took her forfeit and took off his clothes and had to jump into a freezing river. Kes never forgot that.
